Company is working with a client in New York, NY that is looking for a Lead, Operations and Finance Application Support to join their team. This position is direct hire, full time, and requires on-site presence in NYC.

Summary:
This exciting role will provide you with the opportunity to lead the support of our Operations & Finance platforms. The role will be working closely with multiple Development teams, as well as Operations, Accounting, Reference Data, and Treasury to ensure the accurate and timely processing of trades/transactions, calculation, and attribution of PnL, and delivery of critical data throughout the firm’s front, middle and back offices. The role also collaborates with internal teams and external vendors to ensure high service levels are maintained. The candidate must have excellent communication skills, a broad knowledge of financial markets and use these skills to proactively discover and understand issues and potential workflow/system improvements.

Job Duties:

  • Lead, Operations and Finance Application Support will provide 1st and 2nd line support of trade and position management, accounting, reference data and treasury applications and processes
  • Participate in follow-the-sun global support model with appropriate geographic handovers
  • Proactively engage with Operations, Finance, Treasury, and Portfolio Management teams to detect, resolve, and prevent issues that impact the business
  • Roll out, set up, and educate end-users on new product implementations and system changes
  • Work with external vendors to resolve technical issues and deliver strategic enhancements
  • Collaborate with Development to support new projects from inception through to production
  • Design, implement and maintain application monitoring (Splunk, ITRS Geneos)
  • Set up, monitor, and optimize automated job scheduling and dependencies
  • Disciplined use of ticket, issue, and change management systems (Jira/Jira Service Desk)
  • Relevant College degree
  • 5+ years of experience with banks, investment advisors or associated software providers
  • Proven experience building and leading financial technology support teams, especially in trading, middle and back office
  • Experience with commercial scheduling tools (e.g., ActiveBatch)
  • Experience with various scripting technologies (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
  • Experience collaborating with agile development teams in ITIL-based production environments
  • Strong experience across various database paradigms (e.g., MSSQL, RDBMS, NoSQL)
  • Knowledge of basic Linux and Windows operating system administration
  • Strong troubleshooting and creative problem-solving abilities, with an ability to interpret, understand, and troubleshoot internally developed systems (.NET, Python, SQL Server)
  • Ability to track and manage capacity and performance, including detecting and resolving performance bottlenecks in a complex production environment
  • Escalation support for other regions including evenings and weekends on a rotational basis

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS/Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, Snowflake)
  • Experience with various scripting and support tools (scripting languages, Splunk, JIRA Service Desk, Geneos, Grafana)
  • Experience with AR cesium data warehouse system
  • Familiarity within Hedge Fund, Prime Brokerage, Fund Accounting and Advent Geneva system
  • Track record of implementing CI/CD, DevOps and SRE culture and best practices

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
