Senior Java Developer

A Company client is seeking a Senior Java Developer in a partially remote setting located in NYC, NY. The overall objective of this position is to drive applications systems analysis, programming activities and 3rd line production support. This is hands-on technical role. The Senior Java Developer will face off to the North America trading desks to manage delivery and will partner closely with the business analysts, quants and technology teams globally.
Responsibilities:
- The Senior Java Developer is responsible for full stack software Development Life Cycle
- Component Design/Coding/Unit testing/Debugging/Code reviews/Test cases reviews and ensure code developed meets general best practices, business requirements and high standards of code quality with low rates of production defects
- Responsible for Designing and Building solutions for Market Data applications
- Work closely with Development teams, Functional teams, Operation team, Interfacing teams, and Global/Regional Program/Project stakeholders across different regions
- Research and recommend Technology to improve the current systems
- As a Senior Java Developer, you will communicate status and risk to stakeholders and escalate as appropriate
- Provide Level 3 production support when needed
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or higher or equivalent experience
- 6-10 years of relevant experience in the Financial Service industry
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Flexible and able to manage time effectively
- Self-motivating/Self-starting, ability to learn new skills quickly with little supervision and ensuring the details of high priority
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well at all levels
- Ability to handle high pressure and time critical situations
- Strong analytic skills and strong problem solving and program execution skills while being process orientated
- Knowledge of derivatives, strategies, preferably experience in the equities risk
- Good knowledge and working experience of multi-threading programming, low latency application design and inter-process communication
- Good knowledge of Spring (spring core, spring boot, spring scheduler, for example), Core Java, distributed messaging system
- UI experience: HTML/XHTML, XML, JS, TypeScript/Angular, React framework, Jasmine, Protractor,
- CI & DevOps: TDD, TeamCity/Jenkins
- SQL based DB, no-SQL DB (e.g., Mongo)
Nice to have:
- Knowledge and working experience of UNIX/Linux, scripting language (e.g., groovy, shell/bash)
- Exchange connectivity (e.g., FIX)
- OpenShift/Docker
- Python
