Company has a client in search of a talented Java Developer. These jobs are located in either Austin, San Antonio, or Plano, TX. There are also full-time remote opportunities.
Key Tasks:
- Java Developer acquires and applies foundational knowledge of the business, its products, and/or processes
- Gains an understanding of the software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, analysis and design, coding, and unit/integration testing in the development of new applications or modifications to existing applications
- Works under direct supervision and performs routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members
- Learn existing processes, procedures, and workflows to include (however not limited to) the software development lifecycle and/or release processes
- Acquires and applies foundational knowledge of one or more highly specialized areas of application development and/or business analysis that is of significant impact to the organization
- May perform defect correction on less critical development defects, and/or begins to analyze requirements, develop coding skills to code simple applications; Learns to install, customize, and integrate commercial software packages
- As a Java Developer, you will work with more tenured peers to gain understanding of systems while conducting root cause analysis of issues, reviewing new and existing code and/or performing unit testing
- Develops an understanding of customer requirements and how to respond to outages by following the appropriate processes
- Learns to create system documentation/play book and attends requirements, design, and code reviews; Receives work packages from manager/delegates
- 4+ years of experience
- Java 1.6
- Web technology fundamentals including Web services (Java Metro), HTTP fundamentals, JavaScript
- Hibernate
- Spring
- Fundamentals of SQL queries
- .NET
- C#
Preferred Requirements:
- UNIX scripting, Infragistics
- Tool experience: ClearCase, Visual Studio 2010, Eclipse, WebLogic 10.3, tcServer Oracle 11g
- Applied experience leveraging agile software development principals & practices is desired including: Scrum or Kanban or Scrumban, Paired programming, Continuous integration (using tools like Cruisecontrol, Quickbuild, etc.), Test Driven Development, JUnit
- Function and execute in all phases of application software development
- Work independently and provide technical aptitude concerning application design and/or systems analysis
- Apply a broad knowledge of development technologies and determine appropriate options for resolving business issues.
- Review recent technical/systems developments and evaluate their usefulness and compatibility with CGC systems
- Contribute and documents standards and guidelines
- Communicate complex technical concepts, techniques, and skills to a variety of technical, managerial, and business audiences
- Follow project scope and achieve objectives for assigned projects
- Collaborate with team and follow guidance from Senior/Lead
- Work effectively in a team environment and support others on the team
- Use good judgment in identifying issues and recommending solutions to others; Acquires and effectively demonstrates any additional knowledge and skill requirements as requested
