Company has a client that is seeking a Software Engineer (Backend) in San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities:

  • Software Engineer will work in a small development team to complete assigned tasks by the specified deadline while following modern best practices
  • Create specification documents for new features
  • Design, code, and deploy new Lambda functions written in Node.js using the Serverless framework
  • Manage synchronization of data between the primary relational database and the DynamoDB tables utilized by Lambda functions
  • Analyze, diagnose, and implement fixes for reported backend issues
  • As a Software Engineer, you will design and implement new APIs used internally and by third-party systems
  • Perform maintenance tasks on the primary relational database, such as performance tuning, query optimization, and backup configuration
  • Design database schemas required to implement new features
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related degree concentration & 10+ years of proven experience as a backend developer
  • 5+ years of proven experience working on large scale relational databases, specifically Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL
  • Expert-level knowledge in modern JavaScript (ES2015+), Node.js, and object-oriented PHP (version 7)
  • Expert-level knowledge of SQL, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, constraints, and optimization techniques
  • Experience with Git or similar distributed version control systems
  • Experience with AWS services, especially Lambda and DynamoDB
  • Proficient on Linux/Unix operating systems from a terminal
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-motivating and self-learning

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
